When I first got this project, the client wanted something that felt *modern and young, but not too fancy*. They needed a logo that was serious enough for science, but with some fun details. Looking at their old logo, I noticed they used a DNA shape - that became my starting point.

Turning DNA into Letters

I like working with simple shapes. DNA is perfect for this - just dots and lines! My first try turned the DNA spiral into a "U" (for University). I used fading dots and dashed lines to make it feel alive. The client liked it, but wanted more focus on "Life Science" - the "L" and "S" letters.

I kept working on it, bending the DNA lines to secretly form "L" and "S" shapes. It was like a puzzle - keeping the DNA look while hiding the letters. The empty spaces between lines create little surprises - from far away it looks science-y, but up close you can spot the letters.

Making it Young but Professional

No fancy decorations here! I used clean breaks in the lines and simple dots to keep it fresh. The shapes feel light but still solid - just right for a science lab. The colors (deep blue and gray) keep it serious but not boring.

What I Learned 

Clients often discover what they really want as we work together. At first they focused on the "U", but later realized the "LS" was more important. This helped them show they're not just part of the university, but their own special science team.

The final logo isn't complicated, but every little curve and space was thought about carefully. Good logos are like good science - simple ideas, done really well.
